Why It's a Good Idea to Take Your Wheels with You When You Emigrate to Oz

Blog

If you are thinking about emigrating to Australia with your family, then you certainly have a lot to consider. You may hail from a country that is relatively similar and you may speak the same language, but you will inevitably have to deal with a fair amount of culture shock as you come to terms with life Down Under. While you may be relishing the thought of a new adventure, you should nevertheless try and smooth the process as much as possible and, if you can, take some possessions with you to help with familiarity. With this in mind, it's a good reason for you to take your trusty car or truck, and this process may not be as complicated as you might think. Why should you put some more thought into this idea?

Mitigating Your Costs

It's never easy to say goodbye and you will undoubtedly endure a tearful farewell when you say farewell to your family and friends. You'll also need to move out of your home and leave some memories there, although you will hopefully make a profit on your original investment. This will probably not be the case if you need to sell your transportation before you go, however, and you may have to take a significant loss. You may be better investing the money and putting the vehicle onto a boat, rather than selling it at a loss back home.

Instant Transportation

Furthermore, you will need to buy something when you arrive on Australian shores and have to deal with the costly and unpredictable car market there. As you may know, the domestic car industry is no longer, and every single car has to be imported anyway at a significant mark-up. You may be doing yourself a favour economically by bringing your own set of wheels.

Dealing with Paperwork

As you will be bringing a lot of your possessions, certain items of furniture and so on, then you will have to use a shipping service anyway to get everything from point to point. It doesn't take too much more effort to include your vehicle in this process, even though you do have to fill out a certain amount of paperwork. You will also need to get approval from the Australian government through a vehicle import application, but so long as this is completed well in advance, you shouldn't encounter any problems.

Talking with the Experts

To make sure matters go as smoothly as possible, always ensure that you use an experienced shipping consultant, who will be able to provide you with all the paperwork and get the ball rolling.
